Critical Actions for Finalizing Your GDPR Compliance Program

January 10, 2018

The new  General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rule looms and will take effect in May 2018, but only a third of companies are on track to be compliant by the due date. GDPR is the most significant change in data privacy regulation in more than 20 years. It represents an extraordinary shift in the way businesses will be expected to operate when they gather, process, maintain, and protect customer data. Any organization that retains information of EU citizens must be in compliance or face huge fines of up to 4% of worldwide turnover.

The IT GRC Forum recently hosted an interactive webinar on Critical Actions to Finalize Your GDPR Compliance Program, with a panel of industry experts who share their insights on how they’re meeting critical implementation check points and best practices for data protection - not only for GDPR, but for long-term data protection.

Webinar highlights include:

Speakers in the presentation included including Dr. Branden Williams of MUFG Union Bank, Jake Olcott of BitSight, Brian Philbrook of OneTrust, Marshall Toburen of RSA and Chris Covell of Absolute.
“You really can’t rely on encryption alone in the event of a lost or stolen laptop. We sometimes see almost 50% or higher of devices that the organization believes are encrypted but are, for various reasons, not encrypted. It’s important not to assume that just because you’ve deployed the tools, they’re working effectively and as designed. You have to go above and beyond encryption.” - Chris Covell, CIO of Absolute
