We are proud to share today that Absolute CFO, Errol Olsen, was just named a winner of the 2015 BC CFO Awardin the Large Public Company Category. Business in Vancouver and the Chartered Professional Accountants of BC recognize and celebrate the top CFOs in British Columbia each year. The winners of the awards will be celebrated at a gala dinner on June 2nd where each winner will share leadership lessons to an audience of Vancouver’s business community.
In anticipation of this event, Errol Olsen has shared with Business in Vancouver some insight into the transformation going on at Absolute as we move into the “big leagues” and his role in helping to shape our structure and focus moving forward.
In the article, “Errol Olsen: Ahead of the Curve,” Errol talks about his role as CFO introducing structure and systems to Absolute that have helped propel us forward in the past 5 years, and particularly the last year when our focus has become more narrow as an organization:
“In an entrepreneurial organization, you’re just going after market share, and sometimes things are more opportunistic in terms of how decisions are made.
Now our focus is on repeatability and margins, the shift from intuitive decision-making to more data-driven decision-making.”
As Errol notes, the IT security sector evolves very quickly, so our organization – and Errol’s job – hinge on constant reinvention. In the article, Errol shares his thrill for working in this fast-paced environment, which is also reflected in his free time biking, skiing, surfing and trail running. You may spot Errol running up Grouse Mountain before the sun rises, when he’ll then cycle from the North Shore to our Vancouver office. You can read more about Errol in his Business in Vancouver article.
Congratulations to Errol for this award, we are proud to work alongside you here at Absolute! To attend the 2015 BC CFO Awards Gala on June 2nd, you can register here.
