We’ve shared with you our views on where we think mobile will go in 2013 as well as some predictions for IT security in general for 2013. Now that we are in the ITSM space, with the addition of our latest product – Absolute Service – we wanted to look ahead to the trends that could impact ITSM in 2013.

As summarized from articles on Fresh Business Thinking, ServiceSphere, IT-TNA and Gartner, here are some predictions for ITSM in the coming year:

  • Mobile and social IT will offer new opportunities to evolve service delivery and support including the integration of new technology into ITSM such as MDM solutions
  • Organizations fully embrace the ITIL 2011 revisions with more customizations per organization
  • Recruiting and engaging staff will be key to create an optimal culture including a focus on gamification
  • CIOs will be less reactive and focus on encouraging innovation
  • IT Automation will be a high priority
  • ITAM will come under scrutiny to improve proactive actions
  • More focus on the service catalog
  • IT will be more engaged with user experience using tools such as social media, surveys
  • Pushing for the creation of more predictive service models and tools that better handle customer relationships at the user level
  • ITSM will take on a hybrid approach of on-premises and cloud
