RSA 2017: Self-Healing Endpoint Technology Makes RSA Debut
RSA 2017: Self-Healing Endpoint Technology Makes RSA Debut

RSA Day 1 Keynotes: Control what you can, plan for chaos

Absolute officially kicked off RSA today, with the team meeting many new faces and welcoming back familiar friends. Our opening party at Jillian’s was a great opportunity to introduce self-healing endpoint technology to RSA attendees, while Absolute’s own Phil Shomura talked about our technology to a packed house during a presentation at our booth (#S2427).

Black Violin kicked off RSAC 2017, followed by John Lithgow and an opening monologue, while the day’s keynotes centered around increasing threats and the frustrations organizations have in preparing for and combating attacks. Dr. Zulfikar Ramzan, RSA’s chief technology officer, talked about the importance of treating risk as a science — not a dark art — and to always ask “what if.” “Simplify what you can control, and plan for the chaos you can’t,” he advised. That’s an understatement in our business, especially when it comes to securing those “dark endpoints.”

Michael Dell talked about how IT isn’t just information technology anymore — it’s “business” technology — and how security continues to be a critical element, while Brad Smith, president of Microsoft, stressed the need for a “digital Geneva Convention” — and how the technology industry is very much its own melting pot as more companies have become the “United Nations of IT.”

Christopher Young, Intel Security, rounded out the day’s keynotes with a prediction of our next vulnerability: the home. “It’s the largest in aggregate, yet small in reality” — and with more employees working from home and taking valuable data with them, it should be an area of concern for all companies. For us, it underscored that self-healing endpoint technology is the smart solution to address these concerns and others.
